Gladiators 2024 Introduction

The classic game show Gladiators has returned to BBC, after its debut in 1992, and is better than ever! This exciting competition and fresh set of gladiators will entertain the British public for the next few weeks. Riveting new games and nail-biting eliminators, presented by father and son duo Bradley and Barney Walsh, will bless your TV screen at 5:15pm every Saturday evening.

Two female and two male contenders take on at least one gladiator every game to score as many points as they can. Then, the two contenders end the game with a head-to-head eliminator – an extreme obstacle course with a head start corresponding to the number of points for the highest scoring contender. To make it anywhere near the eliminator, the contenders battle against giant superhumans in extremely tight clothing.

This series’ gladiators are truly the biggest, scariest and strongest cast yet. ‘Viper’ has the anger and aggression of ‘Wolf’, one of the original gladiators, but nonetheless manages to intimidate the contenders (and audience) in his own, original way. Legend has an ego even bigger than his muscles but has become a crowd favourite due to his undeniable charm. ‘Diamond’ is every girl’s best friend as she embodies women empowerment by inspiring every generation of strong ladies. There are many more brilliant characters in this series of Gladiators and each of them have worked extremely hard to be where they are which deserves to be celebrated.

Many never-seen-before games are being released this season such as: ‘The Ring’, ‘The Edge’ and ‘The Suspension Bridge’, while also incorporating the original favourites such as: ‘Duel’, ‘Hang tough’ and ‘Gauntlet’. Both the gladiators and the contenders train an insane amount to tackle the physically and mentally demanding games in the competition. The Edge for example is potentially the toughest, especially if you’re afraid of heights. The contender is around 30ft in the air on a network of beams and must run across, side-to-side scoring two points each successful crossing, and get past a gladiator who is guarding the sides. This game involves balance, agility, speed and confidence.

This new/old show is perfect for families having a relaxing night-in and fancy a rush of adrenaline from TV that’ll have you all hooked. It is advised that you should not eat nor drink during the eliminator as the climax of excitement could lead to choking.
