With the ending of the most recent series of the hit TV show ‘I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here,’ the lineup had sparked some controversy.

The 2023 cast for the show saw famous social media icons like Nella Rose and Made In Chelsea’s Sam Thompson, who went on to win the show, go into the Australian jungle. One member of the lineup raised issues was ex-UKIP leader and founder of the Reform UK party, Nigel Farage.

The year before, Matt Hancock, who was the health secretary from 2018 to 2021, went on the show. This raises the question of whether ex politicians go on I’m A Celebrity?

Some argue that ex-politicians should go on the show as it is considered ‘funny’ to watch these people that the go into a jungle and take part in challenges like having cockroaches poured onto them as they try to obtain stars or watch them eat animal’s body parts. This is evident as Nigel Farage during his iteration of I’m A Celebrity was voted by the public to take part in most trials that involved eating animals or enduring having animals poured onto him as he retrieves stars. Given this, it clearly shows how the British public like to see people or figures that they dislike go through such ordeals.

On the contrary, some people say that ex-politicians going on the show means that their political party will not be taken seriously if they are seen going onto reality television shows like ‘I’m A Celebrity’. They argue that by going onto these types of shows, their image as a political figure (or rather ex-politician) becomes viewed in a more comedic light rather than an important manner. They believe that these types of shows undermine their image and make them a laughing stock for the public which ruins the seriousness of their political party.

So, should ex-politicians go on I’m A Celebrity: Get Me Out Of Here? Well, whilst some may argue that it undermines their credibility or argue that it’s funny to watch these figures that the public dislike. In reality, it’s all up to the celebrity or public figure themselves whether they want to go on the show.
