Festivals: what’s the best one?

Have you thought about going to a festival? Festivals are thrilling environments to listen to your favourite artists, new artists, have fun with friends, and make new friends. Festivals allow you and your friends to dance all day and night to the best music out there. But how do you know which ones are worth going to.

As the festival season approaches us, in the summer from May to September, many festivals have released their line-ups, the most important part of the event.

Ticketmaster describes the coming up festivals as a ‘festival frenzy’, but firstly, what are the top festivals to go to? The top music festivals in the UK include Glastonbury Festival, Reading Festival, Leeds Festival, Isle of Wight Festival, Boardmasters Festival, and Wireless Festival. All these incredible festivals generate a lot of national attention, with UK music stating that a total of 6.5 million music fans attended festivals in the UK in 2022.

Arguably, the most important part of festivals is the line-up, so what artists are going to be performing this year? Reading festival, 21st August to 25th August, have thrown in big names, including Lana Del Rey, Liam Gallagher, Fred Again, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Blink-182, Raye, and Digga D. This big weekend of music has an extraordinary line-up and would definitely be one to consider going to. Leeds and Reading Festival both share the same line- up and dates, so tickets are more available if you like the look of those artists. Wireless, July 12th  to July 14th, is rumoured to have the infamous Central Cee and Glastonbury, June 26th to June 30th, is rumoured to be playing Blur, Coldplay and Madonna. Boardmasters,  7th to the 11th  of August, are hosting Bakar, Becky Hill, Katy B, Tom Odell whilst Isle of Wight, June 20th to June 23rd, are playing The Prodigy, Pet Shop Boys, Keane, Jessie J, Zara Larsson, McFly and Scouting For Girls. Keep in mind, that these are only a handful of artists that will be playing at these euphoric events.

Considering these artists and performances that are going to be lasting all summer long, I think festivals are the perfect way to celebrate music. They are ideal for music lovers but also a superior way to celebrate the end of mocks and A levels. Festivals are something to look forward to and they have grown into a major money-maker in the competitive music industry. As one of the biggest attractions to the public, the speciality of festivals is something that becomes unmatched and should definitely be on your list to enjoy this summer.
