Non-League Round Up

With almost all the non-league sides back in action after cancellations the previous week due to weather, it was set to be a bumper affair in West Midlands football. On November 11th, Stourbridge travelled to Royston seeking to kickstart what had been a dull season so far against similarly mid-table opponents.

Despite a poor start again for the Glassboys, a Luke Benbow goal rescued a point, although the side in red and white should really have won it late on, with numerous chances going to waste. Halesowen are a side in poor form after a fantastic start to their return to the 7th tier, but they lost again this Saturday, a 4-2 drubbing by St Ives Town that saw them fall 4-0 down inside the first half. Further disappointment for the Yeltz side, and a much welcome consolation for Stourbridge fans after enduring yet another dull 90 minutes. Telford though continued their good form, the Buck's 1-0 winners over Berkhamsted, 5 wins in 6 for the high-flying side, whilst Berkhamsted remain adrift at the bottom.

In the National League, a Kidderminster loss saw them slip to bottom, the Harriers still struggling to find their feet after a shock promotion last campaign. Meanwhile a Moors side that seemed to be slipping away from the promotion hunt were able to beat Dagenham and Redbridge 2-1 away, helping them remount some pressure on Barnet and Chesterfield above them. However, despite the poor weekend, the next weekend may offer better results for the Stourbridge side, with Kings Lynn of the National League North coming to the War Memorial in a key cup clash in the FA Trophy, a chance for Leon Broadhurst's side to kickstart a second cup run after an unlucky FA Cup exit against the much higher ranking Gateshead.
